The origin of Curds is time immemorial. Ancient Indian records the combination of curd & honey was the most favourite dish to offer to the deities. And even today, curds symbolize an auspicious constituent. Preparation and consumption of Curds or Doi has been ancient tradition originating from Indian subcontinent. Coagulated substance of milk forms this variety of milk product. Modern Misti Doi traces its origin to about two centuries ago, pioneered by a member of a family of Sherpur. The family was later patronized by Altaf Ali Chowdhury, the then Nawab of Bogra district, now in Bangladesh, who granted them a plot of land and encouraged their culinary expertise. Soon the reputation of this delicious dessert spread out and became one of the most popular sweet dishes to savour.
